Soap Cleansing - What's in your bar of soap?

I read an article the other day about soap cleansing with bar soap. Most don't give it a second thought, but maybe you should. Many conventional soaps contain beef tallow. That is the fat rendered from meat processing. Scrubbing down with cow fat is not my way to start the day! The beef tallow also contains toxins and artificial hormones which get stored in the tallow. If that's not enough to get lathered up about, other soap ingredients include phthalates which can interfere with hormone function and triclosan which is linked to thyroid dysfunction.

Thankfully there are healthier alternatives to a bar of soap. Plant based oils like safflower, sunflower and coconut combined with natural essential oils also from plants are healthier for our bodies and milder to our skin. Be a label reader and look for vegetable oil based soaps that are certified organic and free from toxic chemicals.
