Skin Care Antioxidants

Have you heard the latest news? Antioxidants found in berries helps to prevent UV skin damage!

Ellagic acid is a antioxidant found in berries like raspberries, strawberries, pomegranates, and cranberries. This acid protects skin from UV damage by blocking MMP (matrix metalloproteinase) enzymes that break down collagen in damaged skin cells and reduced inflammation. That's great news especially for skin cancer prevention.

Head To Toe Organics body lotions are a good source for berries in the Organic Pomegranate nourishing Body Cream, Organic Strawberry Lemonade Body Cream, Organic Tahiti Body Cream, and Organic Honey Almond Body Cream. See a full ingredients list with every product.
Find organic berries in the "Face Care" & "Body Wash" sections as well.

Organic Face Care

Organic face care is a healthy option for a glowing complexion. Choose products that are free from synthetic chemicals and are certified organic. Skin can be easily irritated by the toxins many companies add to face care products. Be a label reader and do your research on ingredients.
  • Cleansing - Cleanse your face with products that are chemical free and gentle. Chemicals in face care products can be harsh and drying to the skin. Always rinse with lukewarm water as hot water drys out the skin.
  • Exfoliating - Gentle exfoliation will remove the dead skin cells on the surface of your skin giving you a healthy glow. Exfoliate once a week for normal to dry skin. Oily skin can be exfoliated more often but be careful not to irritate your face from over doing it.
  • Moisturize and protect - Look for organic skin care products that contain antioxidants that feed your skin and protect it from free radical damage. Apply a sunscreen of at least a SPF 15 every day. Most of the accumulated damage done to skin is by UV exposure. The damage goes deeper than just the surface of the skin.

Chemical Free Skin Care

Have you ever bought an organic skin care product thinking it was super healthy only to find that it had synthetic chemicals and it wasn't that healthy at all. I can't tell you how many times I have done that and how much money I spent! That began my research into skin care ingredients.

I found that there are so many products out there that claim to be natural and healthy but one look at their ingredients list shows many harmful chemicals. A great way to look up the contents on your skin care bottles is to go to There you can type in each questionable ingredient and it will report what is safe & what is not.

Head To Toe Organics only offers products that are free from chemicals and safe to use. I have done extensive research on products to make sure they are not harmful. An ingredient list is posted with every product so you know exactly what the ingredients are. No guess work. All products are certified organic which keeps you free of pesticides as well.

Lip Balm Recipes

Many lip balms are made of petrolatum which is derived from crude oil. If you wear lip balm or lipstick everyday, at the end of 12 months you will have consumed 2 tubes a year. I don’t know about you but I certainly don’t want to be putting 2 tubes of crude oil in my body!

A better way to go is to use natural oils that contain fatty acids which are great lip conditioners and protectors. Look for sweet almond oil, hazelnut oil, jojoba oil, sunflower oil, shea butter, cocoa butter and beeswax. Lip balms are easy to make if you have the time. Here are a couple recipes that will get you started.

Cool Mint Lip Balm

1 ½ Tablespoon shea butter

1 Tablespoon beeswax

1 ½ Tablespoon cocoa butter

1 drop Vitamin E

3-5 drops peppermint or spearmint essential oil

Boil a few inches of water in a pan. Combine shea butter, beeswax and cocoa butter in a glass jar or glass measuring cup. Set jar in pan with boiling water. Stir gently with clean wooden spoon until all ingredients are melted. Do Not Boil. Remove jar from pan and add Vitamin E to oils. Stir well and pour into clean containers. Cool until hard. Seal with tight lid and label container.

Lemon Lip Balm
